5月22日に発表された4月の貿易収支の速報値は、季節調整済で前月比17.8％減の5,608億円の赤字となりました。 前月に比べて輸出は増加しましたが、輸入は減少しました。
同日発表された3月の機械受注の民需（船舶、電力を除く）は季節調整済で前月比2.9％増の9130億円となりました。 2カ月連続の増加となりました。 しかし、3月の外需は9.4％減少しました。
同日発表された米国の4月の中古住宅販売戸数は季節調整済の年率414万戸で、前月比1.9％減少しました。

The preliminary estimate of trade balance in Japan in April 2024, which was announced on May 22nd 2024, recorded JPY560.8 billion deficit on a seasonally adjusted basis, a fell by 17.8 percent from the previous month. The exports increased but the imports decreased compared with the previous month.
The machinery orders from domestic private-sector ( excluding orders from ships and electric power companies) in Japan in March 2024, which was announced on the same day, recorded a seasonally adjusted of JPY913 billion, a rose by 2.9 percent from the previous month. It rose for two consecutive months. But the machinery orders from overseas fell by 9.4 percent in March 2024.
The existing home sales in U.S. in April 2024, which was announced on the same day, recorded a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4.14 million units, a decreased by 1.9 percent from the previous month.
