4月30日に発表された日本における留学生に関する調査によると、留学生数は34万人で、全学生数の9.2%を占めています。この日本の留学生割合はEUを上回っています。
しかし、人口に占める留学生の割合で見ると、EUの人口は約4億4900万人であるのに対し、日本の人口は約1億2400万人であるため、日本はEUよりも留学生数が少ないと言えます。
